Erasures

Off and on from 2016 to 2018, Monica crafted erasure poems from books she was enjoying. She wound up with a total of 153 poems. Each poem includes a note indicating what book, and what pages she plucked the words from.

These aren’t meant to be masterpieces, and some are better than others, largely due to Monica’s self-imposed rules: Randomly select the page and commit to the randomness. No do overs. Also no shuffling. Erase words, yes, but do not alter their sequence. One poem per day, beginning on the 1st of the month. And so on.

In any case, there are some real gems in here, and hopefully you’ll find inspiration, browsing through them in your own way, according to your own rhythm, enjoying Monica’s poetic orchestration of other authors’ voices.

This is creativity for creativity’s sake! Have fun.
